Singer - Childrens Entertainer - Karaoke Host
Debbie Leaney, aka Debra Lee, is one the North Coast's most successful and versatile entertainers.
Her infectious laugh, sense of humour and 'down to earth' Goldie Hawn likened personality has placed
her as a favourite amongst kids and families, whilst continuing to delight and attract adult audiences
as a singer and Karaoke Host.
Humble Beginnings
Deb's entertainment journey began when the budding musician, Andrew Cross, discovered her singing a
Barbara Streisand song a'capella at her netball presentation night. Thanks to his persistence, he
finally convinced her to start a duo, 2's Company, who performed every Saturday evening for over
two years in the cocktail bar at Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour.
Their complimentary talents led them to winning numerous talent quests and music awards. One of the
duo's most memorable moments were the positive comments by radio guru John Laws when he played Andrew's
song "When He's Gone". This song won Deb 'Best Female Vocalist' and "Runner Up' in the Wave Award
song category.
Moving on from 2's Company, Deb has had a rewarding career with various outfits including - Chiquee
Babes, Doo Wah Diddy, Odyssey and Hip 2B Square. If that wasn't enough Deb also started hosting Karaoke.
Here and Now
Today Deb continues to entertain around the Coffs Harbour area, along the North Coast of NSW and into
Queensland. Regarded by her friends as a bit of a 'workaholic' Debbie is currently performing in two
duos - Airplay, with Steve Fisher, and Rocksteady, with former Melbourne muso Tony Harvey. She also
performs with her band Hip 2B Square and in a trio, Top Shelf, with Tony Harvey and Andrew Cross.
Perhaps her most gratifying project to date is her 'Debra Lee's Kidz Biz' chidrens show which she began
in 1999 at the Coffs Harbour Catholic Club and which has been a tremendous success.
